Our Mission in Quito, Ecuador
IMAHelps is proud to announce our medical humanitarian mission to Quito, Ecuador, from July 28 to August 6, 2023. This mission will take place at Hospital General Docente de Calderón, a vital healthcare institution serving one of the most underserved regions in the country.

Ecuador, a country straddling the equator on South America's west coast, is a land renowned for its rich history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cultures. Its capital, Quito, lies in the Guayllabamba river basin and is known for its well-preserved colonial center, filled with architectural wonders and historic charm.
The Calderón Section
Our mission focuses on the Calderón section of Quito, an area where the needs for medical services are especially high. This vibrant but underserved community is home to many men, women, and children who may have never had the opportunity to see a healthcare professional.
Located in the north of the vibrant city of Quito, Calderón is a bustling district known for its strong sense of community. Despite facing economic hardships, the area is full of life and cultural richness. This district, with its unique blend of urban and rural landscapes, represents the resilience and spirit of Ecuador.
Calderón is also recognized for its artisan traditions, notably the crafting of 'bread dolls' — a craft dating back to colonial times. Beyond its cultural facets, Calderón is surrounded by natural beauty, with lush hillsides that offer a stunning backdrop to the daily life of its residents.
However, Calderón, like many rapidly growing urban communities, faces challenges. In terms of healthcare, resources and access to comprehensive medical services are limited, making our mission at Hospital General Docente de Calderón all the more critical. Our goal is to address these gaps, providing essential health services to this resilient community and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

Hospital General Docente de Calderón
Hospital General Docente de Calderón is a cornerstone of this community. It serves as a beacon of hope for many who seek treatment and medical advice. Despite the staff's unyielding efforts and dedication, the hospital's resources are often stretched thin, and its capacity to address all the healthcare needs of the community is limited.
Through this mission, IMAHelps seeks to supplement the hospital's existing services, offer a broad range of medical and surgical treatments, and help reduce the burden on the local healthcare system. With the spirit of solidarity and service, we aim to bring a positive change in the lives of the people in the Calderón section of Quito, Ecuador.
