This Year’s Mission
Our Summer 2025 medical humanitarian mission will take place at the General Hospital in Latacunga, Ecuador. Our mission dates will be July 24 to August 3, 2025, with treatment days from Saturday, July 26 to noon Friday, August 1.
Latacunga is a 9,000-foot Andean city located about two hours south of Quito. There is tremendous poverty in Latacunga. The hospital has a backlog of 1,300 surgical cases, including general, orthopedic, pediatric, gynecology, plastic and maxillofacial surgeries. The need for internal medicine is also tremendous there, given the extreme poverty in Latacunga and surrounding regions.
Latacunga also has tremendous internal medicine needs because the hospital serves a large area in the interior of Ecuador.

IMAHelps organizes medical humanitarian missions that provide some of the world's most underserved people with everything from general medical and dental care to life-changing surgeries, prosthetics and other specialized services that reflect the expertise of our volunteers.
What We Do
IMAHelps is changing the lives of impoverished people around the world, but our medical humanitarian outreach efforts do much more than make a difference in the lives of the poor.
Our volunteers find that helping others changes their lives, too, whether it’s re-igniting their interest in medicine or opening their minds and hearts to better appreciate everything we have in life and the positive feelings that come from helping those in need.
IMAHelps operates solely on a volunteer basis, and our dedicated team members personally cover their own travel expenses. This ensures that every cent of your generous donation is directly allocated towards the purchase of essential medicines and supplies required for each mission.
From Latin America to Asia, IMAHelps targets its missions to locations with extremely high levels of poverty where we can make a difference.
Every dollar donated provides $30 to more than $100 in medical, dental, surgical and prosthetic care each year. The return on investment varies depending on the complexity of the cases we handle on each mission.
IMAHelps medical missions are generally 10 days in length, allowing volunteers of all ages and fields to come together for a great cause.
Although the composition of our medical missions can differ each time, we usually assemble a diverse team of healthcare professionals. This typically encompasses pharmacists, pediatricians, general internal medicine doctors, OBGYNs, dentists, eye doctors, prosthetists, neurologists, urologists, general surgeons, cardiologists, orthopedic surgeons, plastic and maxillofacial surgeons, anesthesiologists, scrub techs, nurses, and interpreters.
