IMAHELPS VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE $3.5 MILLION IN MEDICAL, DENTAL, SURGICAL AND PROSTHETIC SERVICES DURING THEIR 2016 HUMANITARIAN MISSION TO MATAGALPA, NICARAGUA.

IMAHelps volunteers delivered nearly $3.5 million worth of surgeries and other medical and dental services to 4,998 patients during the group’s recent humanitarian mission to Matagalpa, Nicaragua.

“This was one of our best missions yet to Nicaragua,” said Ines Allen, IMAHelps’ founder and president, adding that 90 IMAHelps volunteers provided 12,097 individual patient consultations and treatments during the July 29 to Aug. 5 mission, which took place at Hospital Regional César Amador Molina in Matagalpa.

During their mission, 90 IMAHelps volunteers logged 2,356 internal medicine triage and clinic consultations; 853 pediatric consultations; 503 cardiology consultations; 400 dental consultations; 54 prosthetic consultations; and 54 physical therapy treatments. They also performed 35 plastic surgeries; 21 orthopedic surgeries; 43 general surgeries; 11 obstetrics surgeries and 92 ophthalmology surgeries.

Allen said IMAHelps volunteers raised $73,966 in cash donations for the Matagalpa mission, which provided an estimated $3,488,355 in healthcare services. That makes for a return on investment (ROI) of $47.16 for every dollar donated to IMAHelps.
